Portfolio (Personal Development File)

In general, portfolio is a collection of whole year student work organized by certain standards. It is also described as a systematic, purpose-based and meaningful filing of student work produced in one or more areas.

It is constituted from three main parts:

Profile: It shows the stages that student work passed through.

Products: The file includes all work carried out by the student.

Reflection:
 The student reflects self-opinions on his/her progress by making a comparison among different works.

Our students prepare their portfolios under the supervision of their teachers throughout the year. They choose work examples that will reflect the degree of their progress and development. Their files are process-based portfolios that include not only completed but also ongoing work examples. Both process and products are shown in the presentation, and it is important for the student to make self-assessment.

Our parents are invited to the "Grades 1-3 Portfolio Presentation and Exhibition Day" in the end of the year. They examine the work examples produced by their children, and they provide contribution to the work assessment through sharing their opinions. We aim to have the parents become aware of the areas, in which their children have shown progress.

        Portfolio works;

  • Reflect the process the students pass through and the progress made within this process.

  • Give ideas to the students, teachers and parents during review/ reflection process.

  • Help understand the starting level of the student and set goals about the direction to go.

  • Present a collection of the work examples produced for certain purposes.

  • Provide an opportunity to the student to make a presentation about the learning process as well as the resultant product, and to celebrate the whole thing together.

Remarks of Our Students

I was really exited when I presented my product file to my family and my teacher. I think that I have improved my understanding and retelling skills as compared to my previous situation. I want to improve my skills in writing poems and stories in third grade.

Remarks of Our Parents

Today, we have once again witnessed that our little girl has grown up and become a student. We are very pleased to see that she was quite confident of herself in giving a presentation, and that she loves and shows respect for her teacher.

It is very pleasing to see that our son has become an example of the fact that one can develop remarkably through knowledge, skills and abilities when they are processed properly.
