Koç's IT Program accomplishes the goal of teaching students these skills by building each year on previously developed skills with new topics while providing time for remediation, application and reinforcement of learned skills.
Departmental Goals:
The primary goals of the IT department are:
- To encourage skills acquisition.
- To provide the fundamental skills required to function in an IT environment.
- To prepare students for university technological requirements.
- To prepare students for advanced computer science study in Turkey or abroad.
- To develop problem solving skills.
Students will examine technologies associated with computers, the social context of these technologies, and receive extensive instruction on using technology as a way of being more productive in other classes.
In the early grades, the emphasis is on skills acquisition. As students master these more abstract topics are introduced and the course moves toward the fifth and more important focus - problem solving. By the end of the compulsory period of computer education students should have a sound knowledge of Information Technology and it's application to academic and real world situations.
