Lise Prep English
The Lise Prep (LP) program is an intensive two-semester course
designed to help students from a wide variety of linguistic and
geographical backgrounds to develop the level of English necessary to
cope with the rigorous demands of the language and literature-based
curriculum of their High School English courses, as well as of the
other courses like Mathematics, Sciences, and Computer that are also
taught in English. Since many LP students are away from home for the
first time, and many are also in a bilingual school for the first time,
LP classes traditionally have been smaller than those in the rest of
the school, allowing teachers to play a greater pastoral role. In
addition, since LP students meet with English teachers for a total of
20 scheduled hours per week, many LP students rely on their English
teachers for moral as well as academic support.
